embarrassed because i just went overboard with my spending today, haha. but what can you expect? i was at jtown!
took my sister to see charlie and the chocolate factory today at amc kabuki. went there because it's cheaper than metreon, and i like the pretty theatre.
we were in theatre one with the fans against the lit wall. you have to see the aesthetics cuz i'm terrible at descriptive writing, haha. anyhow, the movie wasnt so bad, as evan had promised. it definitely was satirical, the children wore too much makeup (especially augustus, the fat german kid), and johnny depp was creepy as hell. edward scissorhands flashback moment! (except he was hot in that movie.) afterwards, browsed around the kinokuniya stationery store (after buying my sister a crepe from sophie's) looking for cute things that i could possibly deck out my dorm with. wound up with nothing worth buying, but i did spend ridiculous money on overpriced stickers, hehe. they were cute and decorative! what can i say, haha.
anyhow, since johnny depp totally weirded me out from that movie (but he was once again, an amazing actor), i decided that i needed to redeem his hotness again, so i stopped by le video to pick up a copy of finding neverland. kenji and i sort of snuck a preview of the movie when it first came out last year(?), and we were too confuzzled by what was going on (we walked into the theatre 20 minutes into the movie), so we left and headed towards the movie we actually paid for. after watching it with my sister tonight, it turns out that the movie is quite good. johnny depp is gorgeous, and kate winslet kept this ineffable elegance about her. (iono, maybe it was the blond hair.)
i know this sounds weird, but in the last scene during the conversation on the bench between johnny depp's character and peter (Freddie Highmore), i was thinking that Freddie Highmore would make a perfect actor for the part of a blind boy. like if they did a movie on louis braille or something, lol. seriously, the few moments when his bright blue (bluegreen?) eyes were tearing up and staring (er, blindly?) at the camera instead of johnny depp for some odd reason, i thought that the look was just perfect for....anyway....
