August03,2005"out" music: The Killers - All the Things I've Done
mood:
actually, i'm not listening to "All the Things I've Done." it's just that the song is stuck in my head because of wolf, evan, and brian. aiyah. ![]()
SO. let's start with monday. on MONDAY, moe, josie, and i met up to go to serramonte for our annual summer shopping trip! didnt find much....so i saved money! sorta....haha. BUT moe and i got our classic black chuck taylors from kid's footlocker for only 29.99! XD $10 less than usual price! woot! i definitely walked out of there satisfied, haha. really wish i had found more stuff from Hollister Co because there were lots of embellished t-shirts (yes, i'm slowly beginning to like t-shirts) that i wanted, but didnt find them in my size. and no hoodies i wanted either! darn! what i did learn is that Hollister doesnt exist in SoCal....so wtf is up with the SoCal prints? "laguna beach" and "OC" crap. ugh. so Hollister is a NorCal-wannabe-SoCal? how utterly repulsive. ;P anyhow, reinier kindly gave us a ride back to the city and i went off for some korean beef with Kenji. wasnt feeling very sociable/well, so i went home after a short night out with him. Black Oak Books was a fun drop-in because we found The D'oh of Homer in the philosophy section...next to a philosophical analysis of The Matrix.
(lemme just refute the back of the book: The Matrix is NOT the most philsophical movie made.) decided i wasnt in the mood to go out and join wolf & co. for derrick's bday celebration, so i stayed home and watched the telly.
however, in the process of "chillaxin" at home, i discovered that it was "free tuesday" at the MOMA, so i dragged evan out just so i could make him walk across that "bridge" on the fifth floor, lol. checked out the huge minimalist art collection including Tuttle of course. and i only confirmed the fact that i'll never appreciate minimalist art. art for art's sake, fine. but iono, minimalism is just too extreme for me. oh! i absolutely loved staring at the mark rothko! color field painting definitely intrigues me more than most modern art. watched this wonderful video art piece on the fifth floor, but to my disappointment, the amazing piece by kara walker was nowhere to be found.
it's called No Mere Words Can Adequately Reflect The Remorse This Negress Feels At Having Been Cast Into Such A Lowly State By Her Former Masters And So It Is With A Humble Heart That She Brings About Their Physical Ruin And Earthly Demise. haha, dont you just love it? XD
after wandering around downtown, evan and i went to wolf's house, only to find him still in the state of sleep, lol. brian finally dropped by around 9 and after trying to play star wars monopoly while watching a movie simultaneously, we dropped the game and devoted our attention to the telly, haha. watched million dollar baby. the guys were obsessively (well, i consider it obsessive) singing The Killers "All the Things I've Done," especially the "I've got soul but i'm not a soldier" line. UGH. GAH. drove me insane! lol. dont get me wrong, i dont mind wolf's guitar playing, but GAH! too much of The Killers for me! and evan's strumming of Coldplay's "speed of sound" didnt help, lol. had a good time and hopefully the days will only get better.
