I went to church this morning at 9 because I knew that my life would find itself with another void if I didn't attend Easter service. All my life I have never missed an Easter service once, so this morning I got up and went to First Parish Church right outside of Bowdoin. It's a beautiful church, with groin vaults and wooden arches supporting the interior frame of the building. Simple gothic (as much of a contradiction that sounds) stained glass windows guide the side walls and a simple altar with not even a crucifix adorning it stood at the front. It was so nice to sing some of my favorite hymns, to listen to the handbell choir and children's choir singing praises to Our Lord. I've realized how much I actually miss going to church, and how I desperately continue to seek guidance from God. Spiritual rejuvenation is just what one needs during difficult times like these.
