Happy Lunar New Year!
music: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
mood: neutral
Gong xi fa cai (gong hay fat choy), Xin nian kuai le!
Last night, jeff cooked up some good grub at east, while jenny and i steamed the rice in our rice cookers. ikumi, christine, jenny, leah, jeff, and i then celebrated by eating all that food, haha. thanks for saving me that drumstick guys ;D
so i work friday and saturday nights now. let me tell you, those shifts are sweet. got so much work done, and got paid for it. hey, i'm learning my way around bowdoin's system.
first ensemble rehearsal this afternoon. i wonder how it's gonna be this semester, though i highly doubt it'll be that great. ;\ oh well, at least i have ian to entertain me ;D

the sun shines again!
music: nothing
mood: optimistic
things sucked on monday simply because little things here and there werent working out, but today, things definitely improved by far. didnt get into gov233, but at least i got into gov241, modern political philosophy. cheated with the book buying because i decided to check out books from the library, so yey! saved a shitload of money on books! ;D
got a lot of stuff done today, worn out with homework. this semester is gonna be ridiculously harder than the last, especially because philosophy itself is a hard subject matter. greek is gonna be hard because it's just the three of us classics majors left in there. and anthropology...who knows. eek! i hope i still have time for myself.
i love my electric dispensing pot, and so does my floor. asian appliances rock!

MLK weekend
music: Ne-Yo - So Sick
mood: bittersweet
so i didnt visit my debaters in Logan HS at their MLK tournament.
saturday was rainy, so evan and i went to see the latter half of the kyoto painting exhibit at the asian art museum. it wasnt as good as the first half, but i must say that i am quite fond of Maruyama Okyo's landscapes. afterwards, we had some yummy pizza at california pizza kitchen since we were in civic center anyway. the sky began to clear up, so we went to the marina to just relax and admire the beautiful view of the bay towards the golden gate bridge. it was such a beautiful afternoon.

on sunday, wolf, brian, evan and i went to lisa's family's famous restaurant, lichee garden to ying-ca (yumcha). lisa kindly seated us quickly, so we didnt have to endure the half hour wait, haha. (thanks girl! you're the best! ;D) after that yummy lunch, we went to guitar center so evan could finally get his fender. then we went over to berkeley so that i could meet up with darren and jenny, and the guys would meet up with their friend, vince. unfortunately, vince cancelled on the guys, so they ended up wandering around telegraph while darren, darren's friend, jenny, and i walked around after getting some delicious frozen yogurt from yogurt park. it was a nice little visit, just to catch up with my bowdoin buddies before heading back to campus. (darren, i still can't believe that you're ready to leave beautiful california!) it was hella awesome to see my college buddies outside of campus, outside of cold, cold maine. later that night, i met up with the guys again at brian's house, and watched some episodes of firefly. they're all addicted now because of brian, haha. but i must admit, serenity was a fantastic movie! very good sci-fi.
today, evan and i just had a chill day. it was a day of hilarity because of the random signs we noticed:

in the parking lot of In-N-Out/Krispy Kreme in DC (daly city)

behind the counter at Pollyann ice cream parlor.
omg, i was so happy to get my scoop of pollyann green tea ice cream! i wish it wasn't a strictly sf-based company. they make FANTASTIC asian flavors, like lychee, mango, taro, sesame...drool. and cant forget the cocopineapple! XD gawd i miss good ice cream. anyhow, after that, went back to evan's house and just chillaxed there before dinner. took evan to bursa kebab for dinner for some delicious mediterranean food! and then went to that asian cafe on noriega with the cow sign for some mango sago. oh gawd i'm not ready to go back to school! i'm not ready to give up AMAZING food, sweets, and did i mention....SAGO?!?!
bittersweet because i'm not ready to go back to school, but i'm ready for the new semester.
so happy that my weekend, once again, rocked my socks ;D thanks evan

j-town frenzy
music: Beam vs. Cyrus - All Over the World
mood: bittersweet
so for the past four days, evan and i have been going to j-town repeatedly. yep. went back to nijiya four times in a row. we just cant get enough of japanese food products. but we found some HILARIOUS snacks. just a couple to show:

so should i sue for gender discrimination? and does this mean that if i were to say, grill a slice of man on my george foreman, it would taste bittersweet? i wonder what ladies' pocky would be like....

notice the man in the advertisement: is he wiping his WATERING mouth, or drool, from the WATERING mints?
so yes, been there too many times, splurged too much at kinokuniya, and next semester, i'm gonna be paying for it, haha. but i had an awesome time cruising the little mall with evan, had some pretty decent sashimi, and just enjoyed a unique part of my beautiful city. ;D

today, evan and i went to chinatown along with wolf, eating a nice cheap lunch at Po Kee, my favorite place for jien-mien. splurged on snacks again, too much i'm afraid, bought some gifts, and am planning to go back one last time before i leave. the best surprise of the day is running into whitney at the market next to walgreen's and the best fortune cookie bakery in the city! so both of us went around looking for zojirushi electric water dispensers. omg, i'm soooo bringing one back with me to bowdoin. i want my nightly tea! whitney and i also haggled a bit today, but times arent like they were before, when haggling was much more effective, haha. oh well, save a dollar or two, every dollar counts!
now, back to my cleaning crusade!

two weeks left
music: M-Flo - Rewind (ft. Crystal Kay)
mood: scatterbrained
that may seem like a long time, but two weeks fly by really quickly. i better spend these last two weeks wisely.
so far this winterbreak, i've done almost everything i've wanted to, hitting restaurants, hotspots, and seeing all the people i love and care about. been out with the guys mostly, but that's because of evan, hehe. i've been out everyday, enjoying random parts of the city. spent a lot of it downtown because i'm a shop-a-holic, havent really hit chinatown yet, but i will soon! must stock up on good junkfood before flying back to maine. and kinokuniya! i miss cute japanese products wrapped in pretty plastic and ribbons, haha. actually, i've missed cute asian products in general. i havent spent that much time on asian irving either, so i better do that and make more trips to arizmendi on yuppy irving because shit, their asiago-swiss-tomato focaccia is damn amazing.
the past few days have been gorgeous in the city. sunny, breezy, the perfect end of spring, beginning of summer weather, AP-exam time weather, hehe. oh how i love my san francisco. took many strolls in the park, mainly strybing arboretum because i love the little ponds and paths. took evan to check out the view from the tower at the deYoung. still doesnt compare to the beautiful night view from twin peaks though. evan and i drove up there this past week, then to the beach to gaze at the golden glow of the moon. it's been a wonderful week, the weeks before were fantastic too. i dont know how these last two weeks will compare, but i cant wait to make the most of them.
so i was checking out some sushi places on cityguide today and holy moly, both ebisu and hotei are up there in the best sushi bar categories! i also finally figured out that the sushi bar on irving between 5th and 6th is called KOO. the stupid "artistic" sign always confused me, but at least now i know what it's called. and i want to check it out now because i've been reading raving reviews about the place! what's more frustrating is that it's right in my neighborhood, 5 minute walk from my house! oh curse the good restaurants near my house...it makes it harder for me to save money!
anyhow, it's almost 10. gonna go out soon, so my list of things to do still:
1. finish knitting project.
2. finish two books.
3. see EVERYTHING i want to see fa-sho!
4. make and load new layout cuz hot damn this layout is BORING.

beautiful day!
music: Push - The Legacy
mood: still very happy
today was such a gorgeous day! woke up later than i wanted, but i ran to kezar, did some laps, came back. got ready and ran some errands, including some important mailing! got my favorite focaccia from my favorite bread bakery, Arizmendi (asiago and swiss with tomato!), bought bananas and baked banana bread before evan came to pick me up. we went to the embarcadero to the ferry building to enjoy the gorgeous colors of dusk before wandering around the embarcadero center for a bit before heading back home. simply a beautiful, perfect day.

Happy New Year!
music: Acceptance - Permanent
mood: happy
Happy new year everyone! i hope 2006 will be better!
New year's eve was a blast. My parents, my sister, and i went to Yet Wah on Clement to ying-ca (yumcha), something i've been meaning to do for a long time. I've missed it terribly. Then i bussed it down to Virgin Records to buy my secret santa gift, shopped around downtown a bit before heading home. Evan then picked me up with Wolf and Brian and Jason, and the five of us went to j-town for a bit. Unfortunately, Kinokuniya was closed, so after the guys got their stuff, we headed over to drop Wolf off before heading to Coriya for hotpot. I'm so glad so many people showed up. ;D There were 13 of us, Evan, me, Brian, Jason, Stuart, Herman, Whitney, Moë, Michelle, Josie, Lulie, Court, Meng. The girls definitely indulged in the make-your-own tapioca "bar." Afterwards, Evan drove Jason, Brian, and me to Wolf's house. The boys and I played Scrabble, and yey! i won! (Evan, i still cant believe you caught up. you suck ;P) Then Evan and I went over to Lorraine's house and they were playing Beyond Balderdash! Too bad we joined the game too late. But we went to her roofdeck to watch the fireworks. Missed the countdown, but it was wonderful to spend my new years with old friends. It was a wonderful new year's eve, and i'm so grateful for all the fantastic people i was lucky enough to spend it with.
