Ivies Weekend

so i'm not actually drunk right now, but i figure that between now and the next time i blog, i'll probably be drunk. it's ivies weekend! lots of rumored stories of how ivies weekend came about, but whatever the real story is, it doesnt matter now because it's pine stock weekend, lol. just a weekend of drinking, games, music, and craziness. it started wednesday night, but i cant start until later tonight....so cheers! drink up, be merry, and rock it out in maine XD

Day of Silence, April 26, 2006

Tomorrow is the day of silence, which I hope all of you with an open mind will participate. Wear a badge or make one to explain your pledge to silence. Here's what my badge will say:
DAY OF SILENCE
My deliberate silence echoes the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questiong people and their allies. I beleive that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting prejudice and discrimination. Think about the voices you are NOT hearing today.
In sum, this day of silence is for those who are silenced each day by societal condemnation. I hope you will spread the word and participate tomorrow in one of the biggest national student organized events.

at least latin got cancelled today. it's only an hour freed from my usual monday, but it's a huge burden off my back psychologically. not that i wasnt prepared for class; i was. oh well, i better make use of this last half hour free and finish some homework for tomorrow.
p.s. i hate facebook's new profile format. i dont adjust to change that easily and facebook is making it hard. i also hate myself for noticing this on facebook because it just shows how much i'm online wasting my time.

Sunday, April 16th
happy easter!
music: christ the lord is risen today

I went to church this morning at 9 because I knew that my life would find itself with another void if I didn't attend Easter service. All my life I have never missed an Easter service once, so this morning I got up and went to First Parish Church right outside of Bowdoin. It's a beautiful church, with groin vaults and wooden arches supporting the interior frame of the building. Simple gothic (as much of a contradiction that sounds) stained glass windows guide the side walls and a simple altar with not even a crucifix adorning it stood at the front. It was so nice to sing some of my favorite hymns, to listen to the handbell choir and children's choir singing praises to Our Lord. I've realized how much I actually miss going to church, and how I desperately continue to seek guidance from God. Spiritual rejuvenation is just what one needs during difficult times like these. Happy Easter.
