music: Jack Johnson - Sitting, Waiting, Wishing
mood: satisfied
yes! i got all my classes! well sort of. officially, i have 3, but i'm gonna add my fourth tomorrow because my premajor advisor is the professor of that class. woot! so here's how it looks:
Elementary Greek 101/MWF/9:30-10:25am
Intermediate Latin for Reading 203/MW/1:00-2:25pm
Coastal Marine Life 064/MW/2:25-3:55pm

and hopefully i'll be able to audit the chinese class, take it for no credit but for my own good, haha. i'm so glad that i'm off to a good start in college. ;D i'm so psyched!

part II
music: Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.
mood: aloof, detached.
so i was gonna go finish my rant about moving into my dorm.
basically in short, coming back on saturday was sweet because i'm not a happy camper, literally. it was a bit stressful with my parents, but i managed to get all my shit together and finally finished unpacking everything...yesterday, lol. the orientation schedule is tight, but loose enough to let me have SOME time to myself...sort of. (hey, i have time to kill on this blog entry right?) like i've told many of you, i LOVE my room, though it's a tad empty, haha. very spacious with just the two of us, and now we have a functioning lamp! XD
so yes, TONS of activities for orientation, meetings and whatnot, but i've been having fun...for the most part. no parties yet, or rather, havent been up for it. but first official campus-wide party is hosted by macmillan this friday, so woot! iono, just feeling....tired, lol. havent had more than like 5 hours of sleep a night this past week, but i'm having a good time ;D hope you're all having a sweet time too! because so long sweet summer, i've basked in your rays and i'm ready to move on.

i'm a bowdoin polar bear! part I
music: nothing. my roommate is asleep in the other room.
mood: anxious. excited. but some(one) is missing...
i'm in maine! WEE! XD
in brunswick to be specific. i'm at bowdoin! all moved in, (almost) totally unpacked, and slowly adjusting to townlife, haha. i'm rooming on the second floor of coleman, in a very spacious dorm, one of the two largest on the floor, with norah! it's hella sweet! XD (the norcal lingo lives inside me!) my floormates are awesome; the guys are hilarious and the girls are so sweet. my common room is very spacious and the bedroom is very cozy! we dismantled the bunk bed into two separate beds, and i flipped mine to make space for my suitcases. TONS of closet space for just the two of us. we have our fridge, microwave, rice cooker...missing electronics, but we can always head over to the guys down the hall for their tv and dvd player. (we'll bring the popcorn and brownies, hehe.) the women's bathroom is on our floor, which is AWESOME. and yeh, sweet dormlife! woot! XD i'll show you guys pix if you ask.
pre-O trip was just....mixed, lol. i had a great time, i loved my pre-O group, but holy crap i'm a shitty camper. i'm not rugged at all, i hate nature/bugs/camping, so wtf was i doing there then? well, peer pressure i guess, and the mere fact that i didnt want to miss out on an opportunity. it's not like i'm gonna do this ever again...i think. anyhow, our hiking trip was too hardcore. we had running water and clean restrooms, but we camped outside (yes, in tents and no there were no bears around, and no moose) for 3 nights and climbed cadillac mountain and beehive, two pretty decent climbs in Acadia National Park. beehive was friggin scary because of the narrow ridges and rock-climbing. definitely memorable moments from the trip! (i.e. DENNIS!!!! "at least your name isnt balls.") XD
on friday, after climbing beehive, we went to this beautiful lake on the other side of the steep trail.

gorgeous weather and perfect for swimming, except i got freaked out by the leeches >.< great view from cadillac mountain on thursday:

and on wednesday, when we went to check out the coast, the fog drifted in, warning all of us of a storm. nevertheless, the ship out there was very picturesque of new england:

. what i loved most was "climbing" the rocks on friday near thunder hole, even though i was in flipflops. again, great view of the ocean, perfect weather, and absolutely beautiful.

beautiful aint it?
part II coming up.

the latter half of this week
music: My Chemical Romance - Thank You for the Venom
mood: excited!
wednesday...well we all know what happened. i guess i am just that fickle. but for now, i'm happy.
bittersweet, but happy. went to art class and almost finished my chinese landscape! met up with josie, annie, sung, and jasmine at tart to tart for cake and coffee (well, that was the intention XD). moë joined us later and we just chatted, catching up with everyone before people leave for college. sung and jasmine left early, so the four of us girls dropped by whitney's house so i could deliver her birthday present (happy belated hun!) (thanks josie, moë, and annie!) and we ended up chilling on the couches outside of The Canvas. it was open-mike night, so we listened to the live music and omg, hilarious. this one group (forgot what they called themselves) yelled out "do we have any JEWS in da house?!?!!" and started rocking out "Hava Nagila." totally hilarious.
thursday, let's see....met up with evan at cc and ended up in hillsdale with brian, dereck, wolf, and jason. wolf needed to buy pants and some of the guys hadnt been to hillsdale mall before. it was hilarious because we were all antsy about driving down 101 because of the sulfuric acid spill earlier that day. made it there and back in one piece, but holy moly, the lego store was just...::drool:: well, too much of the star wars collection in my face, but the wall of extra pieces was just heaven! so many pretty colors! i was so tempted to buy a bucket of random pieces (teal and fuchsia especiallY!) but evan pulled me away. oy...but the pretty pieces....hehe. got home a tad late, but my cousin, eric, drove me to pier 33. josie, malulie, moë, meng, michelle, patti, and i went to eat at the butterfly for dinner for the last time in our group. and to moë, lulie, and andrew: thanks a bunch for the birthday prezzie! kafka! XD and omg, i love the blue. after dinner (the banana lumpia was GOOD), josie, patti and i took a taxi to Glaskat to meet up with lulie, moë, and ryan for the upcrew clubbing event. unfortunately, things didnt work out because of tight security...aka, 3 of us (not me!) werent 18 yet. citynights looked out of the question because of security too, so we ended up at the dessert cafe on 7th and geary. i had my yummy mango pudding (possibly for the last time before december!) and we just chilled until midnight.
josie left for UOP yesterday. meng and michelle are leaving today. i'm leaving monday. everyone is just going away one by one. ::sigh::

Wednesday, August 17th
no really, i'm ready to move (on)
music: R2M - Ocean After Midnight
mood: nervous
definitely a bittersweet weekend.
saturday was my last day at the Asian Art Museum. worked at the store and said my goodbyes. they were incredibly sweet to me and gave me a card full of warm wishes and a pretty keychain. i simply cant believe that i've worked there for two years now and that was possibly the last time i'm gonna volunteer there for years to come.
read the previous entry for my fun details at stuart's house, lol. (stuart, you ARE a classist. champagne glasses and wine glasses....)
sunday. not much except that i actually went to church for the first time in a year. dont get me wrong, i havent lost my faith in God, but i might've lost my faith in organized religion. i stopped attending church because not only was school bogging me down, i just didnt feel it at mass anymore. the sermons werent filling that spiritual void in my life, so i decided to just worship on my own without the guidance of my pastor. i dont know if that was a smart decision, but i'm surviving arent i?
i think the weirdest part of the day was when i realized that i didnt have my viola lesson at noon. you all have no idea how much i miss my viola lessons.
the best part of the day though was when evan came to pick me up from work because it was my last day working at Pizza Orgasmica. it made my "departure" from work easier. we had a late dinner there after my last (very last )= ) shift and watched "Family Guy" in the bar, haha. (well, we werent AT the bar, but we were a good 5 feet away in the bar-room.) chilled at my favorite cafe, The Canvas, for a little while after dinner, even though we didnt buy anything. XD (well, 'twas not our fault because the cafe was closed and only the bar was open.)
monday, met up with wolf, evan, and brian at Borders at stones to go bowling at SerraBowl. brian kicked all of our asses with wolf close behind. (dont think dirty y'all ;P) i failed miserably, lol, because my bowling ball doesnt roll as it's released from my hand; it glides. >.< i'm such a dork, lol. ended up at brian's house for the evening, watching him install his new game (it looks fun...i should burn a copy, haha) and "jamming," hehe. omg, i found out that brian went to Holy Name! so i called up diana jih all excited b/c they went to school together, and of course, diana's classic reaction "um. okey...."
but yeh, seriously, small world! XD
today (tuesday) was friggin awesome again because we went back to Malibu Grand Prix! woot! my average definitely improved! i'd say my average was 64, versus last week's 70, haha. i improved! yey! the guys were so hilarious. so brian picked us up all around 9 in the morning, us being wolf, evan, jason, and me. wolf and evan had other people's driver's licenses (wolf's was actually just fake. plain fake.) because they wanted to "upgrade" to the virages. and guess what? IT WORKED. of course, wolf flirted (yes you did wolf) with the girl at the counter. XP but at least it worked. it's so hilarious how they were all freaked out about it in the morning, planning on what to say, how to get away with it. oh you silly boys. worrying about faster go-karts with your fake i.d.'s when you couldve done so much more with those...

Sunday, August 14th
ready to move on
music: Simon and Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence
mood: carefree
i just wanted to blog at 5 in the morning. ;D hello world! stuart just drove me home about twenty minutes ago. we watched la mala educación (bad education) and kung-fu hustle for comic relief. i practically slept through a phat portion of the first movie because: a) very intense movie; b) too intense for 1 in the morning; c) despite gael's hotness, that movie was just trippy. oy. the latter movie was just stupid, but hey! great comic relief after a homoerotic, trippy, transgender themed movie.
all right. that's all i wanted to say for now. off to bed for what's practically a 3 hour nap now.

the best prosciutto
music: ozma - battlescars
mood: spiffy
to a certain someone: can i just say, i cant believe you were at BORDERS of all places at 9 in the morning? aiyah. i hope you were napping, because i dont believe you were actually reading, lol.
anyhow, evan and i went to visit moë at her workplace today [thursday] on union street (i still dont remember the cafe name). it's a very quaint little cafe next to a rug store by the fillmore. i envy her so much for the neighborhood she's surrounded by all day. gorgeous sunshine, the bay in view, and quaint little shops all over. simply picturesque.
ordered the prosciutto as moë suggested and omg, she was so right...it's soooooo good! sinfully delicious! fresh mozzarella, fine prosciutto, fresh basil, tomato and pesto sauce on a baguette piece. omg omg!! XD
after that, moë gave us an eclair to-go, which i forced evan to eat. (well, he said it was really good!) wandered to fort mason and chilled by the bay. such a perfect day out, except for the rift of fog across the GGbridge.
waited for brian and wolf at the marina safeway and went to guitar center because the boys wanted to play with the guitars. i ended up playing the keyboards because i was too shy to strum the bass guitar....or rather, i couldnt remember anything from sophomore year, haha. went to art class to work on my painting....halfway done? almost? iono, but i hope i finish it before i fly off. i'd hate to leave an unfinished piece of art lying around the house collecting dust.
dinner at ToDai with my grandparents and cousins+family. i personally dont like buffets, and ToDai is incredibly mediocre, but it was just nice to spend time with my grandparents.

malibu grand prix
music: Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
mood: happy, but bittersweet
i know,
i'm listening to Maroon 5. but that song just makes me nostalgic. i guess it still reminds me of that unspoken-of moment. so sue me. or better yet, shoot me. ;P
i spent the day out with my sister on tuesday. shopping mostly, looking for jeans for her and possible bday presents for my friends. unfortunately, didnt find much, except i did find my pair polka dot keds! XD black skimmers with pink polka dots! i dont like pink, but these are absolutely adorable! and for only $12.99 from Ross! went out with Kenji later that evening to Borders where we nostalgically browsed the children's section after reading miscellaneous comic strip collections. omg, i made him read The Giving Tree cuz that poor deprived child never read shel silverstein. (well, i dont think Kenji read much in general, hahahaha.) point is, any kid my age who didnt read shel silverstein's The Giving Tree or The Missing Piece is just unacceptable!
today (wednesday) was so friggin awesome. brian, wolf, dereck (i'd like to emphasize to evan that i spelled it right this time ;P), evan, and i drove (a.k.a. brian drove) down to Malibu Grand Prix for the $20 all day go-karts and $10 all day arcade/mini-golf/bumper boats. XD we definitely squeezed out every penny like good little asians (dereck is honorary, haha). went back to the go-karts twice, except since only brian and i had our licenses, we were able to upgrade from the turbo go-karts to the virage race cars and leave the other guys behind, hehe. (finally, something i CAN do with my license, since i lack insurance and car.) wolf finally charmed his way through to join us on that track in the end, lol. (whatever wolf, you CHARMED her into giving you that stamp ;P) okey, so grand prix was fucking awesome because despite my terrible driving (i'm just REALLY slow at the turns), it was just....refreshing, hehe. i LOVED driving the virages, haha. made me feel powerful and speedy, even though they probably went no more than 30mph. my best time was 65.?? sec. pretty sad, lol, but hey, i'm not a racer, know pretty much nothing about cars, so i'm proud of my time, haha. and might i add that the bumper boats were totally awesome!
perfect for the hot hot weather. except my jeans took FOREVER to dry, so evan and i stayed behind the second time and ate frozen strawberry lemonade. XD (what better way to cool off from the summer heat?) mini-golf was all right except wolf beat me by ONE point. OMG, i cant believe he actually beat me in the end. yes, i definitely got sloppy in the end, lol. but i did better than last time! the arcade was fun, though they really arent my thing. or maybe i'm just out of shape....no no, i just suck, haha. and i totally broke my vow against the NRA when i started playing shooter games again. (CS does NOT count.) omg, i TOTALLY cant drive cars in the arcade. they just make NO sense to me. (i swear my bad scores dont reflect my actual driving! sf DMV proves it!) finally came back to the city around 9 only to end up wandering the piers and the wharf until midnight. the ocean was beautiful. ::sigh:: oh man, my day definitely rocked. thank guys for another sock-rockin day.

firefox bugs
music: The Killers - Indie Rock & Roll
mood: i guess i feel fine.
after making a trip to the bank and running a couple of other errands, i met up with wolf, evan, and brian at fisherman's wharf to go to Musee Mechanique. havent been there for a year, but the place is pretty much the same, except for a few changes with the locations of the games/machines. i love the mechanical pianos and music boxes. i swear, if i make it big, i'm gonna buy myself one of those old mechanical pianos that play ten or more ragtime tunes. XD the boys got competitive with the arcade, lol. how typical. afterwards, wandered around Barnes and Noble for a while before we headed off to stonestown and serramonte. ended up at brian's house, with me watching Liar, Liar on the telly and the boys taking turns playing/failing CS, haha. came home early for once, (thanks brian!) and munched on cookies while staring at my suitcases. two more weeks. i cant believe college is right around the corner. i cant believe time is ticking down so quickly.
::edit::
oh yes, the title of this entry: mozilla firefox wont let me use bgProperties="fixed" for the popup window backgrounds. MSIE 5+ should let you view the "About" and the extended profile properly. i knew how to fix the bug last time, but i'm just too lazy to figure it out again.
and to whoever posted negative karma on this subject: a pox upon thee!

simpleton
music: Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy
mood: confuzzled
new layout. very simple, but peaceful. pretty much an end to the beautiful summer for me.
my sunday was all right. had my last viola lesson, which was very bittersweet for me. i must say that during my musical study under mr. hasbun, i have never once walked out of a viola lesson feeling unfulfilled. i'm truly going to miss that feeling of completion and satisfaction from music.
watched mystic river finally with evan, except we're both horrible when it comes to serious movies. >.< we just cant take movies seriously, haha. so much for the intense drama! got to work a tad late, but it was okey because my manager, jamie, was also a tad late, AFTER ME. then i pulled this brilliant (okey, it wasnt that brilliant since it was evan's suggestion ;P) idea; ordered food to bring over to wolf's house as a delivery, but hitched a ride with one of the pizza drivers after my shift was over to follow the food, haha. awesomeness! XD good pesto pizza! ::drool:: watched dogma with the guys because brian is a "dogma-virgin." ;P haha, i can never get enough of that movie. and dereck, BEN AFFLECK IS HOT, despite the fact that he cant act for shit. XD

yum cha!
music: Yolanda Adams - I'm Gonna Be Ready
mood: anxious
went to yum cha today at Lichee Garden, lisa siu's famous restaurant in chinatown! there were 14 of us, and boy did we eat up. well, not really. but holy moly, it was cheap and good! the quintessential chinese restaurant in chinatown! awesomeness! XD afterwards, we dropped by Ten Ren for tapiocas (because they make the BEST tea around) and ended up wandering around Pier 39. it was most definitely a fabulous day out with my friends.
went to work. that was nifty. wasnt as busy as yesterday, but there were still rushes of phonecalls.
okey, back to my music.

music: Telepopmusik - Breathe (extended mix)
mood: confused
been hanging out with wolf, evan, and brian a lot this week. and i really do mean a lot. serrabowl these past couple of days, embarrassing myself at the pool table, haha. oh man, summer is flashing by before my eyes.
bonfire last night was kind of dead. okey, it was really dead. but at least badminton before that was awesome! lulie, josie, moe, and i went to the sunset rec to work up our badminton skills. too bad i still sucked anyway, haha.

a wonderful birthday
music: New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
mood:
incredibly loved
today was just a perfect day. met up with Kenji, Josie, and Michelle at the exploratorium because it was free wednesday and the unofficial theme of the day was "EMBRACE YOUR INNER ASIAN; a.k.a. FREE WEDNESDAY." XD met up with evan, wolf, brian, and derrick when we left the museum because well, frankly, there were too many little children, and i dont like little children, lol. met up with patti and mike tom at the academy of sciences to check out the chocolate exhibit and the fishies and of course, the PENGUINS! it wasnt THAT great because well, frankly, the old museum in ggpark was WAAAAY better. (the planetarium is gone and the starfishes are untouchable!) still, i had a great time! XD just nostalgic. to kill time, we went to virgin records and omg, herman came! yey! XD spent a lot of time at borders, mostly in the C++ and C# section chatting with kenji, michelle, josie, and herman, while wolf and the other guys were looking at magazines and whatnot, hehe. (predictable! ;D)
anyhow, met up with stuart and whitney for dinner at citizen thai & the monkey. the restaurant was all right, nice environment and just comfy. josie, you did a fantastic job finding that restaurant, hehe. and whitney, i'm soooo glad i finally saw you this summer. thanks for the book ;D you always know what to get me. josie and herman, thanks for the both fun and useful gifts! hehe. you two have no idea how awesome those gifts are to me. michelle, turtles! they're just ADORABLE, including the pouch ^.< stuart, thank you for the tart! it was INCREDIBLY sweet of you and though i didnt light the candle, i did enjoy it for breakfast this morning, hehe. and kenji, thank you for those lovely casablanca lilies on monday. they're simply beautiful.
to everyone who came out with me today, especially wolf, evan, derrick, and evan whom i've just started to get to know, thank you for spending the day with me.
i dont think i could've wished for more. josie, thanks for always making my birthdays special. for the past few years, you've always made me feel special on my birthday, and you're always there for me. thank you so much for just, everything.
and to all those wonderful people who left me birthday wishes on my facebook, on my phone, on AIM, and in person: thank you.
you all have no idea how grateful i am and how truly blessed i feel to have you all in my life. i love you all, and i wish you the best in college.

out
music: The Killers - All the Things I've Done
mood:
peachy
actually, i'm not listening to "All the Things I've Done." it's just that the song is stuck in my head because of wolf, evan, and brian. aiyah.
SO. let's start with monday. on MONDAY, moe, josie, and i met up to go to serramonte for our annual summer shopping trip! didnt find much....so i saved money! sorta....haha. BUT moe and i got our classic black chuck taylors from kid's footlocker for only 29.99! XD $10 less than usual price! woot! i definitely walked out of there satisfied, haha. really wish i had found more stuff from Hollister Co because there were lots of embellished t-shirts (yes, i'm slowly beginning to like t-shirts) that i wanted, but didnt find them in my size. and no hoodies i wanted either! darn! what i did learn is that Hollister doesnt exist in SoCal....so wtf is up with the SoCal prints? "laguna beach" and "OC" crap. ugh. so Hollister is a NorCal-wannabe-SoCal? how utterly repulsive. ;P anyhow, reinier kindly gave us a ride back to the city and i went off for some korean beef with Kenji. wasnt feeling very sociable/well, so i went home after a short night out with him. Black Oak Books was a fun drop-in because we found The D'oh of Homer in the philosophy section...next to a philosophical analysis of The Matrix.
(lemme just refute the back of the book: The Matrix is NOT the most philsophical movie made.) decided i wasnt in the mood to go out and join wolf & co. for derrick's bday celebration, so i stayed home and watched the telly.
however, in the process of "chillaxin" at home, i discovered that it was "free tuesday" at the MOMA, so i dragged evan out just so i could make him walk across that "bridge" on the fifth floor, lol. checked out the huge minimalist art collection including Tuttle of course. and i only confirmed the fact that i'll never appreciate minimalist art. art for art's sake, fine. but iono, minimalism is just too extreme for me. oh! i absolutely loved staring at the mark rothko! color field painting definitely intrigues me more than most modern art. watched this wonderful video art piece on the fifth floor, but to my disappointment, the amazing piece by kara walker was nowhere to be found.
it's called No Mere Words Can Adequately Reflect The Remorse This Negress Feels At Having Been Cast Into Such A Lowly State By Her Former Masters And So It Is With A Humble Heart That She Brings About Their Physical Ruin And Earthly Demise. haha, dont you just love it? XD
after wandering around downtown, evan and i went to wolf's house, only to find him still in the state of sleep, lol. brian finally dropped by around 9 and after trying to play star wars monopoly while watching a movie simultaneously, we dropped the game and devoted our attention to the telly, haha. watched million dollar baby. the guys were obsessively (well, i consider it obsessive) singing The Killers "All the Things I've Done," especially the "I've got soul but i'm not a soldier" line. UGH. GAH. drove me insane! lol. dont get me wrong, i dont mind wolf's guitar playing, but GAH! too much of The Killers for me! and evan's strumming of Coldplay's "speed of sound" didnt help, lol. had a good time and hopefully the days will only get better.

break from faulkner
music: Fallout Boy - Sugar We're Going Down
mood:
confuzzled
plain old sunday. viola lesson, which was as usual, fulfilling. made my dad drop me off at borders afterwards cuz i just needed some alone time. bought three books though! vonnegut's cat's cradle, nobakov's lolita, and holy blood, holy grail. havent read the first two, so now i'm reading vonnegut again as i'm taking a break from faulkner. read a little bit of murakami today and omg, now i really want to read some of his books. whitney, you're a genius!
