prepare for a long entry ahead....

events since i last wrote? let's begin with august 11th...

i took evan out to dinner at First Crush, a contemporary French restaurant with an excellent war bar that we were unable to legally sample. i had the duck, he had the chicken, and we sipped Voss sparkling water. the duck was pretty good, juicy and sweet.

and evan and i both agreed that the water glasses were pretty neat because of the water drop at the bottom.

we also discovered that Voss is very good sparkling water. i myself am not a big fan of mineral water, but Voss has this very light carbonation that only kicks in when you sip it, and doesn't make you feel gassy. anyhow, it was a lovely, simple night out, and i got to strut around in my favorite pair of heels. ;D the restaurant location is kind of annoying to drive to though, because aside from the fact that it's downtown, cyril magnin street is just ridiculously hidden. at least we found it and had a lovely little time.

that saturday, the boys and i drove out to jack london square across the bay to see pete escovedo and his latin jazz band perform at Yoshi's. i was there celebrating yvonne's 19th birthday with her and her friends, and we all had a lovely night of drinks and jazz. the ginger ale from their bar was really good, and her friend got away with a glass of wine without having her I.D. checked. ;D pete escovedo's band was amazing. two of his sons are also famous percussionists, and the three of them featured various drum solos. the music was fabulous, and the only missing thing was a spacious dancefloor for some salsa-ing. ;D i met up with yvonne again the following thursday to go clubbing with her and her friends at The Crib for the Christina Aguilera CD Release party! i took whitney out to her first club for a birthday addition, and omg, despite the ridiculous theme, it was a blast! yvonne and her friends are awesome to go dancing with big grin

it was a fabulous night of crazy dancing and music videos. i definitely didn't expect a gay club to be such a fun event. ^.^

last saturday, the girls and i went out to dinner at The Stinking Rose. malulie couldn't join us, but the six of us who could make it went to eat crazy amounts of garlic. we ended up walking around Northbeach for a bit, test-tasting fudge at some crazy shop with really fat plush fats, and eating yummy gelato at Naia.

the food at the restaurant definitely killed our tastebuds with their salt, so the gelato was an uplifting treat. it was definitely a deliciously fabulous night with the ladies, and the gelato cups and spoons were adorable too! big grin

this past weekend has been very eventful. on thursday, my debate camp buddy, jason, drove up from san jose for a visit. him, his friend sam and i went around the piers, enjoying the ocean breeze and random tourist attractions. i hadn't seen jason for five years, so his visit was certainly a landmark event. big grin later that night, the girls and i had a little potluck at patti's house before driving off to Glas Kat for a clubbing event held by Underworld Productions. it was basically a middle school reunion when we all met up with some friends from Lincoln, including Melissa, Edmund, and Alex! the group of us danced til this pseudo-hyphy rap group came up to perform. confused aside from the awkward moments of unrecognizable rap and multitude of fobs, it was a fantastic night with the girls, and i'll surely miss them again.

james, edmund, and alex were also kind enough to demonstrate the hardship of abercrombie modeling outside of the club.

we broke up early, but moë, patti, and i met up with james, matt, and edmund at Nation's for some midnight snackage. evan dropped by and bought me some peach pie. razz on friday morning, whitney and i met up for our last coffeedate of the summer. we got some delicious scones from Arizmendi, and ended up at The Canvas for coffee.

i'm gonna miss their large coffee mugs! i dont think that even the Bohemian Cafe has mugs that big. anyhow, it was nice to have that long talk with whitney again; she always keeps me grounded. smile yesterday, herman picked me up for brunch at All You Knead on Haight street. both of us had lox...mine dripped in american cheese and his dripped in cream cheese. afterwards, we walked around the haight, looking at shoes and "urban" clothing. walked into all the ShoeBiz stores, and admired the Adidas store on the second floor of the newest store. but the coolest shop was Kid Robot, where we each bought a surprise Monger box.

Herman wanted the salt and pepper shakers, Sam and Pete, and lucky him! he got them! i got the bone.

so jealous...haha. at least he didn't get the weener...which happened to be named after him too, btw. we both thought he was destined to get the weeny, especially after we discovered its name, but i guess God liked him yesterday and gave him the salt and pepper mongers. ;D we're so pimp with our new mongers. XD

yesterday night, evan took me out to The Cliffhouse for our anniversary dinner. we both had their delicious organic chicken (yey! freerange!) and headed off to ghirardelli square for some dessert. it was a perfect night, though the weather wasn't ideal at the beach, but at least the sky was another beautiful spectacle at the end of the night. another perfect ending to a perfect summer, thanks dear, i love you.

end of summer

music: dashboard confessional - so long sweet summer
mood: melancholy

i know it's not the actual end of summer, but it sure feels like it. as i'm approaching the end to my summer, i noticed a few things: 1) once again i haven't accomplished everything i wanted to accomplish at the beginning of summer; 2) i didn't spend enough time with family and friends; 3) whitney is right: when i list out what i've done this summer, it's a lot more than i expected.

last week was fabulous because i not only got to hang out with susie and dan, but my friends surprised me with a birthday dinner at cafe gratitude. on wednesday, dan and i met up at civic center and went around the piers and wharf. i was so happy that he visited san francisco. that night, evan and i took him and susie out to dinner at okazu-ya on taraval. haven't been to that one since eighth grade, but it definitely looks the same. mmm...sushi. can't get enough of that sashimi. ;D i worked on my birthday, which i know, is blasphemous, but i figured that everyone else would be busy on a thursday night, so i said i'd celebrate on friday night. thing is, i got lazy and didn't feel like planning or doing anything, so evan insisted that he would take me out to dinner. however, to my surprise, josie and my girls had planned a little birthday get-together for me, so that became one fabulous night of vegan food and chocolate cake. the vegan food didn't really kick it with us because our stomachs still felt pretty empty. went to whitney's house after dinner to play catch phrase!, the new gift from josie and co. that was a fun game and a great alternative to taboo. (i think evan and i have played that one too much this summer.)

on saturday, mike and moë planned an early birthday surprise party for patti, so we all met up at hotel nikko in a hotel room that mike hooked us up with. the night ended awkwardly, but it was great seeing everyone again, especially people whom i hadn't talked to since graduation. lots of jenga, taboo, brownies, pizza, and i attempted to swim for a bit, but annoying children and the 4ft deep pool turned me off.

this past week has been fabulous too. on monday night, evan and i kidnapped whitney to wolf's house, where we played Settlers of Catan. it was one ridiculous game that evan owned because he monopolized the bricks.

as you can see, wood was the rare resource in this game and whitney and i just screwd wolf over with his 3:1 port. but darn evan and his monopoly! and his lucky dice rolls. razz

evan and i also went to sea cliff on monday night in our feeble attempt to catch the sunset. i have yet to see the sunset again...last time was in june. i guess sunsets just aren't our thing. should've gone to see it yesterday, but we went to patti's birthday shin-dig at crepevine. but monday night was still beautiful, despite the hovering clouds.

i love the ocean, i love san francisco, but of course, i also love him too.

hiatus

i guess i've sort of been on hiatus, but it's August now, so i better update.

july has just been filled with work, interning, and beautiful summer days spent with my friends and love...and being spoiled by evan. ;P during the heat wave that broke records all over california, i spent the hot days working inside the restaurant, and the warm nights running around the city with my friends. well, not so much running per se, rather just a lot of tapioca, pollyann's ice cream, and ice coffees. ;D it's been a fabulous summer thusfar, and there's just barely one month left.

evan, you spoil me too much. we also eat too much pho.

whitney took me to see a live performance of Fiddler on the Roof in San Mateo on Saturday. she always knows what i love and enjoy. whitner dear, though we havent hung out as much as i had wished to, you have rocked my socks each time. thanks sooooo much for everything! thus i shall outdo you....the summer isnt over yet.... ;P

what else did i do...ah yes, july 22nd, i reserved the lounge area in the bar at pizza orgasmica, invited evan's friends and ours, and threw him a little shindig with gourmet pizza and Taboo. just an early birthday celebration before brian left for his cruise. (hope his ship doesnt slump over like it did before.) anyways, it was a nice get-together, and i embarrassed evan when the bar serenaded his birthday. on his actual birthday this past weekend, we spent a lovely evening at his grandmother's house, eating delicious homemade chinese food and fresh peach pie from that bakery/cafe at serramonte. some time in the beginning of july, my nephew came to sf for a little visit. he's my oldest cousin's youngest son, and happens to be a year older and attending the bowdoin of the west coast, pomona. we spent the day walking around the piers, ate at boudin's, ate at ghirardelli, wondered at the mechanical pianos in musee mechanique, ate at hahn's for dinner, and finally evan and i dropped him off at Steps of Rome at the end of the night with his friends. it was great seeing him again, especially since we could barely remember how we first met 5 years ago in singapore.

so i havent been doing my homework like i should have been doing. part of me is slowly giving up, but the other part says, i have done many things this summer and i dont regret any moment of it. i'll keep trying this homework deal...but i doubt i'll keep up. oh well, too bad for me next semester in chinese.

i'll try to actually organize the archives for the blog entries and perhaps set up a coppermine gallery before the summer ends, but for now,

happy august.
