tofu-rkey

music: inoj - all i want
mood: calm

new york rocked with yvonne! went to visit her at nyu, and just had a sock-rockin time with her cruising chinatown and the streets of new york. when i got there, the christmas lights were already lit up!

and we were both like "nooO!!! we havent even carved the turkey yet, wtf?" next day, TURKEY day, we went with her suitemate, claire, and claire's friend lanie from wellesley, and met up with padraic and roman to go see the macy's thanksgiving day parade. crazy crowd near timesquare! people were just RUDE. and fat. ;P anyhow, some memorable pictures:

barney!

barney DISEMBOWELED. gawd what a traumatizing sight that mustve been for young children.

the best one of them all! HUMPTY DUMPTY...dumped upside down! ;D

spongebob! except he looks like he's about to eat whatever that is below him...

afterwards, claire and lanie went off somewhere else (we actually lost them earlier in the shuffling crowd), but roman, padraic, yvonne, and i went off into chinatown for lunch. roman took us to this really good chinese restaurant and there i got my pan fried noodles with bokchoy! SO HAPPY. then yvonne and i stayed there for a long while looking for my hats, which took forever because of my big head. while there, i found something quite interesting:

omg, how hilarious is that?! XD

anyhow, i found a couple of cute hats! we never got our dim sum from the bakeries, but we did get yummy hot tapioca! for dinner, we went out with claire and lanie again, and kent and kevin. went to this really nice little vegetarian restaurant, red bamboo, and had fake turkey, ham, and chicken. tofu-rkey at its best! went out for coffee later that evening at this cute cafe which kind of reminded me of crepevine at home, except instead of the crepes, PIE. gawd i miss going out late at night for coffee and baked goods.

next day, friday. SHOPPING IMPERATIVE. went off to like, the west thirties i believe, and went crazy with the mall and stores. had some good new york pizza for lunch, and seriously went from 10am to 5pm just shopping hardcore. that definitely rocked! we got a lot done too because i got my down jacket and yvonne got her timbAlands so we got geared up for winter!

yvonne protecting herself from the bitter cold with vitamin C while waiting for me at old navy.

then i received a wonderful surprising phonecall from daniel, who was actually in the SoHo when yvonne and i were in greenwich. unfortunately, we couldnt meet up, but dang, so close! anyhow, on our way back to haydn hall, we took a snapshot at washington square cuz the lighting was quite spectacular.

yvonne took me out to doJo for some cheap tofu dinner, then hit starbuck's (peppermint mocha! wee!) before heading back and gearing up for our night out. didnt go to a club....but instead, ended up wandering around brooklyn looking for this all-nite party that ended up being at someone's house and was really more like an acid-rave than a club. but it was a fun night out with the girls!

anyhow, long busride back from new york to maine, but i made it back in one piece! jeff was kind enough to make me a really yummy dinner that awaited me when i got back on campus, so that made a good end to a fantastic weekend. came back to a beautiful white campus, and this is what i woke up to this morning:

.

mmm...3 more weeks until i go home.

things are wrapping up nicely this year. ;D

music: none
mood: excited! LOL

just a short entry.

there's so much i still want to do. less than a month left before i go back to san francisco, before i go back home....i miss you all so much, especially you*

sushi? do i dare?

music: DJ Mystik - Close Your Eyes
mood: spiffy

at the cafe....and so happy that it's so warm outside! wowee! it's been so cold lately that i forgot what anything above 50 feels like. it's crazy how quickly i can adapt to dramatic temperate changes. must make myself resistant! grr! haha.

havent been up to much lately. i mean, besides school stuff. had our orchestra concert on sunday, which was hilarious because we DEFINITELY werent ready. but whatever, brunswick townspeople are nice and supportive. classes have been the usual, but i'm slowly to like them more because i just love my professors. nothing beats being in a class with 7 other people, and nothing beats chinese class bonding every morning at 8 ;D

hosted prefroshes last weekend, and doing it again this weekend cuz elmer needed people badly. i REALLY hope my roommates are okey with it....shit, better go run and tell them now.

oh, and the title of this entry...it's just that i bought some sushi from the cafe, and i'm wondering, do i dare eat it? seems risky...hehe, especially because it's bowdoin and it's maine where there are no japanese restaurants worthy of dining. but i do miss good sushi....and good asian food....and good variety of restaurants in general.

elections!

music: the sound of silence....literally, not simon&garfunkel
mood: spiffy

busy tuesday!

so i hope all of you eligible voters out there voted. because i sure did, though via absentee ballot for the sweet city of san francisco! after a pretty nice morning of classes and morning routines, i went to volunteer for the Bowdoin College Democrats to be a van driver. i basically spent 1-6pm driving people to and from the polls. it was actually quite nice, simply because i got to drive. i must admit, i do missing driving.

came back to eat at chinese table for dinner, then went to watch tae guk gi for my korean war seminar. i loved the movie so much. it's just a superb film, and the bonus is that won bin is in it! such a tear-jerker too, but i already cried the first time i saw it.

it was such a long day, but it was a nice one. i really hope more of these days come.

break away from campus

music: DJ Mystik - I'll Be There
mood: optimistic

this weekend was really good for me, particularly because i got to get away from campus and find mental therapy in the first-year multicultural retreat at the sheraton in south portland. a good number of us went down there to stay over friday night to i guess, share our thoughts and even vent our frustrations with issues at bowdoin, mostly about adapting to maine as a minority. the best part was the fact that the maine mall was located right across the street, so i got to get a little shopping done! actually, i didnt buy anything, just shoelaces from Hot Topic which were on sale for a dollar! now i can switch my pink-&-blue star black laces on my converses to some hot pinstripes! XD anyhow, the little trip really gave me time to think about what i'm doing here at bowdoin, and what i need to do about my frustrations with the school. things arent perfect, but when i really look at the good and bad parts, ultimately, the good outweighs the bad. i guess i didnt realize how much i really had to adapt to. talk about lack of mental preparation.

a ton of music rehearsal tonight, ensemble right after orchestra...but omg, i can't believe our orchestra concert is next sunday. SO not ready. especially since i still havent really looked at the last movement of the beethoven >.< ::sigh:: and we're picking classes in a week..which i'm REALLY not ready for. crap. i can't believe the semester is ending so soon! but this also means that i'm that much closer to going home and seeing those i love and care about most, not to mention those that make me happy. i can't wait for the snow. i can't wait for winter.
