hurrah! Check it out!
reason why i'm so glad he lost:
"The Sierra Club and other environmental groups targeted him [Pombo] as an "eco-thug" who once proposed selling off some national parks, led the drive to open Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling, wants to let states drill for oil and gas off their coasts, and has pushed to revamp the Endangered Species Act to provide more rights for property owners.
'We're thrilled,' said Roger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, which made Pombo its top target in the congressional races. 'Not only was he a vote against the environment, but as committee chair he could push his agenda.'"
it's hard to believe that such people exist.

the democrats have taken back the House! Check it out bitches!
nancy pelosi, you're my new heroine. you have now made history as the first female speaker of the house.
it's people like that her that make me proud of being a San Franciscan. ![]()
and as of right now, VA and MO look like there might be hope for the senate too!
i didn't vote in california this year, primarily because i forgot to re-register back home over the summer. but i registered and voted in maine, and i'm so glad that baldacci won. yes, he's rather incompetent, but better than that crazy, super right-winged chandler woodcock. baldacci may be terrible at handling fiscal crises, but woodcock is against anti-discrimination legislation that protects specifically the LGBT community, AND he doesn't believe that a woman should have the right to privacy for family-planning! i'm still amazed by the social conservatism of maine, but then again, maine is 97% white and rural.
i also admit that i gave up with california's elections because 1) too many propositions every year, and i don't know any of them this year; 2) too many radical propositions in san francisco that will never pass and thus gives me false hope; 3) phil or arnold? doesn't matter as long as the democrats control the state legislature; 4) feinstein and pelosi don't need my vote, they inevitably win; 5) pombo doesn't govern my district. and pombo BETTER not win. that bastard, i've never heard of anyone who hates the environment that much. then again....woodcock probably beats pombo in extreme conservative views.
so yes! good job everyone who voted blue! or rather, good job everyone who voted since voter turnout never seems to surpass 50%.
